Eirikur Bergmann
Eirikur Bergmann is a professor of politics and director at the Centre for European Studies at Bifrost University in Iceland. He mainly writes on nationalism, populism, European integration, Icelandic politics, and participatory democracy. Further afield are couples of novels published in Icelandic. Based on a nationwide election in 2010, Bergmann served as a member of Iceland’s Constitutional Council in 2011, which had the task of drafting a new constitution for the Republic of Iceland.
In 2014, Palgrave Macmillan published his book Iceland and the International Financial Crisis: Boom, Bust and Recovery. In 2017, Palgrave Macmillan published his book Nordic Nationalism and Right-Wing Populist Politics. Bergmann’s research interest within the field of conspiracy theory is in studying its links to right-wing populism; specifically how right-wing populists apply conspiracy theories to advance their politics.
